High Performance Computing System Manager

What you are responsible for

As HPC System Manager at Zenuity you will act as our internal HPC expert.

You will ensure the smooth daily operations of our HPC environment and help support our users in the business to ensure that Zenuity gets the most value and performance out of the solution as possible.

Core IT owns and manages all infrastructure at Zenuity. Most infrastructure services are delivered through an external provider, including network, servers, client, storage, backup/restore etc.

We started out our HPC service with 300 compute nodes (9600 cores) and 8.8Pb Storage, we’re already adding additional capacity.

One part of your role will be to work with our service provider to continually improve our HPC platform. Our service provider offers traditional service desk functions for level 1 and 2 issues, they also implement our recommended improvements etc.

The other part of your role will be to act as the Core IT HPC internal expert and help users to understand the capability of the solution, show recommended ways of working, help manage workloads, stop/start jobs, prioritize jobs etc.

You will act as the Core IT person for HPC and capture problems, requirements etc. from users and projects in the business and work with other Core IT resources to find solutions to these problems.

You will be given a high degree of trust and empowered to solve issues to ensure that the business receives the IT services that they need.

The tasks are divided in both individual work and projects in team. It is important that you have a great ability to co-operate with customers, suppliers and colleagues. The ability to handle teamwork and co-operation is an important skill to maintain at a high standard and quality delivery to our customers.

You will work as part of a team with Core IT colleagues from Sweden and the Germany.

What to do

Your role will be to ensure that this works smoothly

  • assist in developing standards and work with our external providers to implement them.
  • act as a local Subject Matter Expert, SME for everything related to HPC including operating systems (VDI), configuration, hardware, applications etc.
  • participate in Change Advisory Board, CAB to propose, review and approve standards, exceptions etc.
  • participate in both internal Core IT and business projects as SME
  • work with technical users in the different business areas and projects to capture requirements, identify solutions, incl Proof Of Concepts etc.
  • work with our external service providers to assist in advanced troubleshooting, reviewing and signing off Root Cause Analysis reports etc.
  • support service vendor IT support staff with troubleshooting etc.
  • act as the focal point for anything related to HPC and Core IT incl. new demand, incidents etc.
  • participate in the continuous improvement of processes and tools both within Core IT and the greater organization

 More about the role

You will work in a small and agile team where your decisions matter. You will be a part of building and maintaining the IT infrastructure, both on premise and on public cloud providers. You will get a chance to work with modern technologies and building cool and exciting stuff.

You need to be a fast learner and have an understanding of administering an HPC solution in an enterprise environment with a modern approach using “DevOps toolsets”. You will be working with standard and automation, ensure that we have an environment that we can easily monitor and maintain, supporting our developers as well as Core IT services. You should be able to handle stressful situations and perhaps describe yourself as an independent team player.

About you and how to bring succes to the role

Degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent  

Understand and speak English at a professional level

Minimum 3-5 years of experience from HPC administration in an enterprise environment including network, servers, clients, storage etc.
